Ethical investments

As the green market has grown, many major financial companies have launched their own ethical investment funds. Many of these work on the avoidance principle of not investing your money in harmful enterprises and some also pro-actively encourage progressive green firms. Most offer ethical or green investments, pensions, life insurance and savings, and some also mortgages.

The Ethical Investment Research Service provides the independent research into corporate behaviour needed by ethical investors to enable them to make informed and responsible investment decisions. Their website includes an ethical fund selector and a directory of ethical investment advisors. Their FAQ section includes useful information on ethical investment.

The Ethical Investment Association (EIA) is an association of financial advisers from around the UK, dedicated to the promotion of ethical and socially responsible investment (SRI). They have agreed to a Code of Conduct and there is a list of members on the website as well as information on ethical investments.
