Our aims

Green Choices encourages everyone in Britain to make ecologically sound decisions in living their everyday lives. We aim to empower you with simple, direct information on green alternatives which make a real, lasting difference.

Green Choices offers these suggestions and information on the basis of its own research and that of other reputable organisations. The information is provided in good faith, and we use many of the products and services ourselves.

We actively welcome all comments and criticisms: the more you report your own experiences, positive and negative, the more useful the site will be. Green Choices is a not-for-profit initiative. Startup costs and initial running costs were met through funds provided by members of the Green Choices team plus sponsorship from environmentally responsible companies (Friends Provident and npower). Thanks are due to Scottish Power, whose support has enabled us to update the content of the site, and to the Cobb Charity, Northumbrian Water, South Staffordshire PLC and Wessex Water.

Finally, Green Choices provides information primarily on the basis of ecological principles but may highlight other concerns. In the vast majority of cases, the choices we suggest are, in our opinion, also the best choices you can make on other ethical grounds (such as animal testing or workers’ rights). Where a company faces a boycott or particular criticism, we endeavour to make this clear.
