Water in the garden

Water Conservation

This has, in these times of increased consumption and uncertain climate, become important even in Britain. As with any green issue, the first step is to become more conscious of how much water you're using, and why.

  • Many gardening organisations are now providing  hints on gardening in drier conditions.
  • Water butts are a good way of saving water by using rainwater instead of tap water for the garden. Some have devices to prevent overflowing.
  • The Water Worm from Natural Collection uses up to 50% less water than traditional garden watering methods and is made from 100% recycled car tyres.
  • One way of saving water is to use greywater (water from your bath or shower) for the garden, and Natural Collection sell a Bath Water Diverter which diverts used water from the shower/bath to a water butt for later use in your garden. See also CAT Publications and the Permanent Publications Earth Repair Catalogue for information on grey water use.
